Description

Test Specialist required for Cummins Generator Technologies in Stamford to supervise shift work loads and liaise with Engineer in charge Test. Carry out Electrical and Mechanical tests to manufactured IPP products, Engineering prototypes, Marine, Q.A. Sampling machines, and Service machines utilising two of the company's test cells and associated equipment. Carry out accurate tests collecting and collating data, summarising in written reports, making recommendations on product, plant and equipment improvements.Provide training for Tech Centre Engineers, Customers and P.Q.A./A.Os. Assist in customer reaction with witness testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To carry out routine and specialised production testing. Assist in the Type Approval Audits.
To carry out Engineering testing as laid down in DD15596 to all IPP LV, MV & HV products up to 13.8kV
To carry out full prototype testing including competitor evaluation and make reports on recommendations and improvements.
To assist the Engineer in Charge IPP EM Test in the workload schedule and make any recommendations to assist progress or resolving problems.
To assist in customer interaction, witness tests and with consultants.To carry out Electrical tests to all Marine Society Rules and Regulations as laid down in MD962-OO1.To carry out Electrical and Mechanical tests pursuant of CGT Quality Policies
To carry out diagnostic/proving tests on Service repair machines with the ability to fault find on current, obsolete and poor condition machines.
To provide Engineering support to Manufacturing by providing training to A.O. and P.Q.A. engineers, Overseas Service engineers, Overseas plant test engineers, Customers,Students and apprentices. This involves providing P.R. to customers and company visitors.
To ensure all Electrical & Mechanical instruments are in calibration and assist in their maintenance and records of calibration certification.
To assist in the raising of purchase orders for parts/tools required to plant and new equipment.
To make recommendations for new plant and equipment within the department for weekend shift support
To raise maintenance requisitions for breakdowns/repairs to plant and new equipment for weekend shift support
To progress the work load schedule.Train Tech Centre Engineers to carry out the full range of standard and specialised tests
To perform any reasonable task requested by the Engineer in Charge IPP EM Test.
Essential Skills: Sound knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical theory to HNC level or above
Must have previous experience in a Senior Technical Centre Engineer role.
To be fully conversant with Low, Medium & High Voltage generators, test systems and procedures for rotating machines up to 13,800V und product knowledge of machines and control systemsConversant with of company and external standards
Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite including Power Point, MAPICS, INTRALINK, and with expert proficiency of MS Word and Excel
Competency in material handling equipment.Experience of Team working in an office environment.
Fully conversant with Cummins quality systems and procedures for CGT products
To have received CPA/First Aid training.
